6000 raised for cancer charity

Last Friday at the Mandolay Hotel proved to be a sparkling fashion event with the Lady Mayoress of Guildford in attendance.  The cancer fundraiser fashion show taking place on behalf of the Fountain Centre had a capacity audience and raised well over £6,000 on the night.  Models for the evening were ex-patients of the centre and received a warm welcome from the audience and their escorts Guildford’s Fire Service Red and Blue Watch.

Local online retailer Suburban Turban was showing its Autumn/Winter headwear collection for women experiencing hair loss.  Nicky Zip, the milliner behind Suburban Turban commented ‘Our collection has been well received this evening thanks to our beautiful and inspirational models. They have proved tonight that women may lose their hair but they certainly don’t lose their sense of style!’

Mari Lee fundraiser and organiser commented ‘We’ve had a fantastic response to this event with ticket sales and public support on the evening. Our generous sponsors have been wonderful donating their goods and services.’  The International Wine and Spirit Competition kindly donated the complimentary wine.

Other retailers showing on the evening included Jacques Vert, Next, Trotters children’s wear and specialist retailers Cool Sleepwear and DiMurini mastectomy lingerie.  Centre staff Charlotte McDowell and Gail McGuire concluded the evening by offering their thanks to the models and all involved with production on the evening. Money raised will be spent on raising awareness of the facility at St Luke’s Cancer Centre and expanding services available to patients.
