The party hat

Black velvet and satin cocktail hat with black veiling, crystal buttons - concept hat for evening wear

One doesn’t immediately think of cocktail evening hats when considering chemo headwear.  This particular one was inspired by my visit to the ‘Savage Beauty’ – Alexander McQuen exhibition at the V & A museum last year – it has been ‘in the making’ ever since! Captivated by the title I began to see parrallels between hair loss and its side effects.  Chemo treatment could be described as ‘savage’ in how it transforms, but it also reveals great strength and beauty.  So this was the thinking behind this little evening hat – it isn’t in the main collection, but I hope it inspires you with possibilities this social season.

If you’re looking for a little glamour and sophistication this party season (and why not?!) – we have just completed uploading new styles in our Evening Wear category.  There you’ll find cocktail hats and beautiful silk scarves as comfy alternatives to wig wearing, particularly useful if you’re not getting on with your wig or simply prone to overheating. They look dressy and have an elegant confidence about them – so here’s the idea ‘accentuate the positive, and don’t mess with Mister-In-Between’. (Johnny Mercer)
