Today, we're thrilled to bring you a guest blog by beauty writer, blogger and natural beauty expert Fiona Klonarides, who edits the fantastic, website, blog and online 'green' beauty authority www.thebeautyshortlist.com. The annual Beauty Shortlist Awards - and, as of this year, the Baby Beauty Shortlist Awards -  always creates a big industry buzz, as does its Green Beauty Week, which showcases all-natural health and beauty brands and their founders. It's a spot which any brand worth it's paraben-free promise wants to be featured in! Most of all, we love Fiona's great heart and enthusiasm compassion for women affected by cancer and the need to source natural beauty products to help them look and feel their natural, gorgeous best, from top to toe.

Winter beauty wonders

By Fiona Klonarides, founder of thebeautyshortlist.com. I love this time of year. Nature may look “bleaker” in winter than during the other three seasons, but there’s nothing like a crisp dog walk late on a Sunday morning, followed by a long, lazy lunch and a gluttonous tea later. We’re supposed to hibernate, rest, recharge and hunker down for winter (barring the height of the festive season). I’m not a believer in drastic health changes at this time of year – nourishing and nurturing feel more “right”, and it’s vital to get out and get as much (weak British winter) sunlight as possible to keep our mental and emotional balance in check. For me, the British winter can feel endless on a not great day, and beautiful in a bittersweet way on a good one. This is a great time to add a bit of sparkle to your beauty stash and rev up your skincare. These are some of my favourite natural winter beauty heroes definitely worth investing in, before January deflates our bank balances!

THERAPIE by Roques-O’Neil Balance Me Gift Set

THERAPIE by Roques-O’Neil - Balance Me Gift Set Legendary aromatherapist Michelle Roques-O’Neil’s small but perfectly formed capsule collection (bath/body/candle) is a joy to explore and this gift set is a nice starter kit, too. Her Cherish Skin Repair Serum (I use it on my face!) strengthens and conditions skin with its potent, all natural ingredients and if you have any sleep issues, her award-winning Himalayan Detox Salts should knock those on the head (warning: best used as a weekend treat, as you might end up sleeping through the alarm.)

barefoot-botanicals-sos-face-_-body-rescue-cream

BAREFOOT SOS - FACE & BODY RESCUE CREAM - If you love an effective multi-tasker, this gentle face and body cream will simplify your skincare routine in one fell swoop. Rich enough for dry skin, yet never “heavy”, it’s formulated for all skin types. The Chickweed and Burdock calm winter-irritated skin, while Macadamia, Evening Primrose and Aloe Vera make it feel like a long, lovely drink for (indoor heating?) parched skin.

GREEN PEOPLE’s Rosemary Natural Deodorant

GREEN PEOPLE’s Rosemary Natural Deodorant What’s a deodorant doing in this line up, you ask? If you or a friend has undergone radiotherapy or chemo, or you’re just not keen on “high street deodorants” which have  aluminium, parabens, ethyl alcohol (etc. etc.) in them, then say hello to this natural deodorant (which actually works!).

UNICA Kiss It Better Soothing Cream

UNICA Kiss It Better Soothing Cream Is your skin playing up ever since winter’s nippy nights showed up? Dry patches resurfacing? (Again??) If your skin’s misbehaving, this water and shea butter-based moisturiser should sort it. With an effective combo of regenerating and healing Rosehip Oil (one of the ingredients most likely to be able to tackle dry or chapped skin) and anti-inflammatory, antiseptic Calendula – just two of a laundry list of good things on the label – this is a light but super-charged cream that should see you nicely through the winter.

AROMATHERAPY ASSOCIATES Little Bell

OK as we’re entering Santa Season soon, if THIS doesn’t show up in my Christmas stocking then I might just ... (buy one). This mini bottle of Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil is a delectable elixir of grapefruit, rosemary and juniper, just the right trio to start the day off on an uplifting note when there’s frost on the ground outside.

LUMIERE D’OPALE Shimmering Body Oil

LUMIERE D’OPALE Shimmering Body Oil Now for the sparkly bit - but not as in “fell into a sackful of glitter”- Lumiere D’Opale’s deliciously scented sesame-based Body Oil will feed your skin and veil it with a golden glow. A beauty favourite on the Cote d’Azur last summer, it’ll go just as well with a little black dress and bare arms as it did with the bikinis and sun loungers.
